Additional Information:

One Thousand Eighth Avenue (formerly known as The Nettleton) Apartments complex consists of twin residential towers totaling 305 units on a full city block site in the First Hill area. The location is surrounded with spectacular views of the downtown Seattle and the urban development now includes amenities such as a fitness studio, enclosed swimming pool and Jacuzzi, and state-of-the-art business center.

The original buildings which were built in 1949 required extensive upgrades to modernize the electrical power, elevators, fire protection, and mechanical systems to bring them up to current top-of-the-market standards as required by the Owner.

To reestablish the project as a highly desirable urban residential project, the Owner engaged F+M Architects to design a completely new facility within the building shell. The design team developed all new interior spaces, new entrances, common areas and site amenities.

The design focuses on an creating an attractive young, urban lifestyle image and establish this throughout the lower level lobby spaces, utilizing bold fresh materials and colors coupled with strategic lighting of bare concrete structure elements. The juxtaposition of the these looks creates a hip, edgy appearance which has proven to be very attractive to the new tenant mix.

A new series of site walls and other elements, such as the “Mondrian-style” screen at the pool area continues this dramatic statement outdoors, and a new Sky Deck space was developed on the roof to provide the occupants with a breathtaking 360 degree view of the downtown Seattle area.

This project recently won "Renovation Project of the Year 2007 from Multi-Family Living Magazine"
