Project Size: 55,000SF
Date completed: Spring

Client: Visto
Corporation
Additional Information:
Corporate offices for a leading global provider of wireless push data
application developer. Their goals for the projects were to provide a
functional, efficient layout that would help their firm expand their
operations in an attractive and efficient facility. High level of
interactivity between staff members and a facility which supports
communication were priorities as well. Retaining as much of the existing
improvements as possible while accomplishing all of their other goals
was highly desirable to keep costs down and avoid needless environmental
impacts.
Our client leased the top two floors of a four-story office building
located in Redwood City, CA. The scope of the design work consisted of
remodeling portions of the existing interior improvements to accommodate
the client’s particular requirements. Each floor is roughly 25,300SF
each for a total project size of approximately 50,600 SF. The client’s
program included roughly 185 systems furniture workstations (cubicles),
Private Offices, a large fully equipped board room, application
development labs, an 850 SF server room, an
interface usability lab, conference rooms, break areas, storage rooms,
and other typical office support spaces.
We chose a clean open look coupled with low partition systems furniture
and strategic use of clear and diffuse glazing to create a memorable and
bright interior office interior. The finishes utilized natural and
“green” materials to lessen environmental impacts, while imparting a
fresh and stimulating working environment.
An existing interconnecting stair was extensively remodeled to make it
the hub of communication between the two floors and formal and informal
meeting areas were strategically located at the upper and lower termini
to support impromptu meetings and collaboration. Glass walls and open
space surround the stair to provide an open and airy feeling to the
office and long unobstructed sight lines between the two levels
